Most studies deal with massage and chiropractic manipulation. However, few studies specifically address myofascial release. This is because treatment styles vary from doctor to doctor. This means that it is difficult to find widespread medical support. Doctors may be more inclined to recommend more traditional treatments.

However, because of the relative lack of risk, many patients with chronic or even short-term back pain may be interested in trying this treatment to see if it provides relief. This is especially true if you are trying to avoid surgery.
